We cannot stress the importance of the following information and urge all technicians to take note of it so that they make an informed decision when deciding whether or not to accept the EMT 2 role.
It is evident from the calls that we are getting that some staff are listening to rumours despite the information that we have put out and the meetings that we have held.
Some of our members are saying that they are not going to accept the new EMT 2 role as they believe that they might be entitled to back pay from the original band 4 evaluation and a pseudo appeal that they think is taking place.
In Manchester, there is no appeal outstanding, the appeal process was exhausted many years ago. The process has also been exhausted in Cheshire and Mersey & Lancashire, there are no appeals there either. The only outstanding Consistency check was in Cumbria and as the new workforce redesign agreement guarantees their Techs a Band 5, they have accepted it rather than gamble on a Band 4. If you decline this offer now, you will remain in Band 4 as the process has been exhausted.
This agreement has been jointly agreed between all of the recognised unions in NWAS. If you are still unsure, please contact us. Don’t risk making a decision based upon wrong facts or assumptions, make an informed decision. This is a one-time only offer which is part of a deal and one that will not be repeated in the future.
You can discuss this agreement and other workplace issues with other members and stewards on our online forum.
